Ground Cover Contractor in Ventura County & Los Angeles

Ground cover projects with RnD Builders generally run $15,000 to $250,000, depending on the material, the removal of the previous ground cover, slope and the size of the yard. Larger or more complex projects can also run higher, and your written estimate confirms the exact price.

Ground cover installation can also take as little as a single day. Larger properties and more complex projects, especially those with unique design elements, take more time. We set a deadline after your consultation and stand by it.

A ground cover contractor removes the old surface and installs the new one: artificial turf, native plants, stone, mulch or pathways. If your yard struggles with bare patches, erosion or high water bills, a professional plan can turn those problem areas into a clean, low-maintenance landscape.

Artificial turf for a lively look all year with low maintenance, native flora that thrives in its natural climate, stone layouts that add character, and bespoke pathways that combine elegance and function.

The old lawn is removed, the area is graded for drainage, and a compacted base is built so water runs away from the house and the surface stays flat and firm. The turf is then laid, seamed and edged. A good base is what keeps the finished surface from settling.

In Southern California’s dry climate, popular choices include creeping thyme, dymondia, clover, and decomposed granite with native plants. They stay green with minimal watering, which helps with water bills. Your designer picks plants that suit your sun, soil and slope.

Yes. Deep-rooted ground covers such as ice plant, native sedge or creeping juniper anchor soil and reduce erosion on slopes, and retaining edges can hold the slope in place. Slopes should be reviewed on site, because heavy rain can wash away unprotected soil.

Water districts in Southern California have offered turf replacement rebates, but the rules are strict: you generally need living grass, you need approval before you remove it, and synthetic turf is not accepted in the Metropolitan Water District program. Check current eligibility before you start, and we can plan a qualifying project around it.

Planting and turf alone often do not need a building permit. Retaining walls, major grading, drainage changes and patio covers usually do. We also check the rules for your city and handle any permit your project requires.

Yes. RnD Builders is a licensed California general contractor, License #1081122, and you can verify it on the CSLB website. California requires a license for projects that need a permit or total $1,000 or more, so always ask any contractor for their license number.

Removal of the old surface, slope, drainage, irrigation and access are the usual swing items, so we review them on the first visit. We quote from the exact scope you approve and itemize it, so you can see where the money goes. Site conditions are checked on the first visit, and any change is agreed in writing before it is added, so the project stays in line with the budget agreed in your contract.

Yes. In addition, many yards combine turf, stone, pathways, planters, a patio or a retaining wall in one design, and RnD Builders can design and build all of it under one contract.

Ground cover can improve curb appeal and reduce upkeep, and a cleaner, more usable yard is easier to enjoy. The resale return depends on your neighborhood and the quality of the work, so we do not promise a specific amount.
