Patios and fences start at $25,000 and generally run up to $150,000, outdoor kitchens run $35,000 to $150,000, swimming pools $90,000 to $200,000 and ground covers $15,000 to $250,000. Projects that combine several of these scopes add up accordingly. Larger or more complex projects can also run higher, and your written estimate confirms the exact price.

Ground cover can also take as little as a single day, a fence a few days, a patio about 3 weeks including design, an outdoor kitchen 2 to 6 weeks on site, and a swimming pool 8 to 10 weeks. Design and permits come first, and we set a deadline after your consultation.

Often, yes. Pools, outdoor kitchens with gas or electrical, and attached patio covers all need permits and inspection. In Los Angeles County, for example, an attached patio cover needs a building permit, while a freestanding fence up to 6 feet may not. We also check your city’s rules and handle the permits.

California requires new or remodeled pools and spas at a private single-family home to have at least two drowning-prevention safety features, such as an approved barrier with a self-latching gate, a safety cover, or door alarms. We also plan them into the layout.

Grade, access, utilities and existing concrete are the usual swing items, so we review them on the first visit. We quote from the exact scope you approve and itemize it, so you can see where the money goes. Site conditions are checked on the first visit, and any change is agreed in writing before it is added, so the project stays in line with the budget agreed in your contract.

Yes. We plan the whole yard first, then build in stages that make sense, such as the pool and structure first and finishes later. Itemized estimates show what each stage costs.

Southern California water districts have offered turf replacement rebates, but the rules are strict: you generally need living grass, you need approval before you remove it, and synthetic turf is not accepted in the Metropolitan Water District program. Check current eligibility before you start.
